City of Sullivan launches partnership with ISU’s Sustainable Cities program | News

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — It’s no question that the City of Sullivan is progressive, innovative and making moves within West Central Indiana. In fact, its recently launched partnership with Indiana State University (ISU) has led the city’s momentum toward conscientious sustainability.

The first of many listening sessions was held on Friday where community members were encouraged to provide input on sustainable projects within the city they wish to see. A brainstorming session was used to gather ideas and proactive ways to incorporate ecological operations throughout the city.

“The City of Sullivan is actively pursuing opportunities that cater to all – folks from age 5 to 95.  Our administration will continue to implement quality of life incentives to live, work, play and continue investing in our community,” Mayor Clint Lamb said. “We look forward to partnering with Indiana State to make these a reality by continuing to transform this wonderful city in a sustainable fashion.”

Over the next 12 months, ISU’s Office of
Sustainability and local ISU students will work collaboratively with the city
to determine what projects will be implemented and the necessary scopes of
work. The decided projects will be completed by Sustainable Cities faculty and
ISU students, giving students opportunities for experiential learning and field
work experience.

ISU and Sullivan will begin narrowing
down the determined projects in the coming months with updates to follow.
